In case no one has posted it--the Feds seem to be restraining just a little:

bog.frb.fed.us

Scroll down to percentage gains. Still large, but a definite shift from a week or so ago--in the direction of tightness. Also AMG shows a billion-dollar outflow, though as of yesterday Trim Tabs estimated 600 million inflow to mutual funds.

All these things very tentative.

I hope that today was just a frantic display of fideistic commitment to the BULL. Wasn't it Mithraism that worshipped bulls?

John, Obviously, the higher the dollar value of your premium, the less risk you have in the total short put position. The other advantage is that you make much more when it runs back up than with lower priced puts.

I am the wrong guy to ask about margin. I rarely use it and then, it is such a small part of my account I don't get close to the edge. I think the minimum margin the firm has to hold is the option premium, so it is not available right away. However, it should be earning interest for you, not them, in any case.

I don't think Dain Rauscher analysts make 7 figure salaries. Regionals don't have that sort of pay scale.
