Helix Technology {HELX} reports its 4th qtr and 1998 year end earnings. AMAT is the largest customer HELX has so if HELX bookings are way up it is fairly safe to assume AMAT's bookings are up. This is what the HELX CEO had to say about that:
<<
Commenting on the results, Helix President, Robert J. Lepofsky, said, ''1998 market conditions were the worst the global semiconductor capital equipment industry has ever seen. Since bottoming in the third quarter of last year, order booking rates have continued to rise. Order trends in the first quarter are quite strong, leading us to believe that our performance will continue to improve in the current quarter. The strategic initiatives we undertook last year, including the acquisition of Granville-Phillips Company and the rollout of our GOLDLink(tm) diagnostic and remote monitoring system, will add importantly to our future performance. We enter 1999 enthusiastic about the substantial opportunities we see ahead.''
