AG,

You seem to be forgetting that the USA is the biggest oil pig in the world. We want cheap oil! The cheaper the better! The only thing that should be of concern is that we do not become too dependent on foreign oil as we did in the 70's.

Could be implemented in a moment and fix everything at least in this country, and yet they won't do anything about it. Why?

Our govt doing something to directly cause higher gas prices at the pump would be sorta unpopular, don't you think? For the vast majority of Americans, low oil prices is great, and frees up money for other things. Unless the majors start failing, the govt isn't going to prop up oil prices. Even then, the govt would be smarter to assist major oil cos. in surviving as an ongoing concern, not simply handing them higher prices that come out of everyone's pocketbooks.

All that great technology that has made it cheaper to extract oil from the ground is now not just an extra benefit, it's required.
