One extremely interesting insight I gained, too late, was that often the stock topics are a *trailing* indicator, and not a *leading* indicator.

There is a flurry of excitement and good feelings about a stock **after** the stock has gone up. There is a flurry of remorse and foreboding **after** the stock has dropped.

Oddly it's when there is a quietness in the thread that the stock suddenly heads higher.
