To answer your question concerning wether or not Tellabs equipement is still needed with the combinatoin
of Cisco, and Ciena, AKA IP over DWDM. Everything in the CO (central office) still goes through the
TITAN5500, everything! Having replaced among other things the M13(mux) the digital cross-connect is the
only link from FOTS equipement, to and through the switch.

To answer your other questions about Tellabs products for the IP, and ATM related market, the AN2100,
although designed specifically for the Sprint network in it's first generation release, will target the market of
not only voice over ATM, but other ATM related markets. In other words, IT"S GOING TO BE BIG!!!

Here are some side notes as to why Tellabs will keep market share:
1. There is no other 3/1 DCS on the market that interfaces at the optical level that is needed for all the
IXC's

2. There is no other single piece of telephony equipement inside the central office that has the amount of
performance monitoring that the TITAN offers. NOTHING (performance monitoring is the ability to
monitor any and all facilities passing through the equipement, providing a vast amount of data according to
how the parameters are set)

3.Tellabs is in the process of developing optical level switching equipement that will also be an industry
leader
