Kash - RE: "Edelstone wrote that his firm still believes "Intel is on track to introduce a version of the chip set that will support 600-MHz versions of Direct Rambus DRAMs toward the end of the second quarter. However, we believe difficult technical hurdles will likely cause upwards of a three-month delay in Intel's ability to deliver a version of the 820 chip set to support the full Direct Rambus DRAM spec of 800 MHz."" Sounds just like what Paul said yesterday, except he didn't sound as upbeat as Edelstone did. RE: "Once Camino silicon is ready that can support the 133-MHz system bus..." Looks like Intel, too, is having problems! What's wrong? Can't the bellwether do everything right? Aren't they supposed to set the example for the rest of the sector? Oh, wait a sec, this is the same company who had to delay Merced, the next BIG thing in the processor arena, by SIX months. Not to mention the same company who won't have a seventh generation processor for at least 12 months. Is Intel not running on all 8 cylinders? Did a spark plug lose its firing ability? I guess they hope the 7 working cylinders will be able to continue powering the company. Were there even going to be systems that would use the 100MHz bus/600MHz Rambus parts, or was it supposed to be 133MHz bus/800MHz Rambus parts from the get-go?The Bottom Line: Delay in Camino which supports 133MHz bus -> Less money from not selling more expensive chipset + Less money from not selling 133MHz bus capable motherboards + Less money from not selling 133MHz bus capable processors = Less revenue in Q2. Again, I guess they hope the 7 working cylinders will be able to continue powering the company.
