just a bit of sarcasm...I know even conservatives have a sense of humor! I think the more appropriate term would be "insult."I was referring to islam's condoning slavery True. It is against Islam to have slavery. Bilal was the first slave that became Islam. The Muslims freed him from slavery.and the many mentions of "slave girls" in the Book of islam. Have you read the Qur'an? The Qur'an does not condone slaves. Why do you think it's the fastest growing religion in the world? Why are women turning to it in such huge numbers (the fastest among women in the U.S.)? Is it because they want to be treated as "slaves?" Of course not. It's a misconception that non-Muslims often create without examining the evidence. You will not find a Muslim with a slave in the world today, no matter how hard you look no matter where you look. The Qur'an does mention the reward Muslims will get if they free a slave, but that was specifically talking about the people of their time. That reward stil holds today but there aren't many slaves to free today Many feminists are becoming Muslim after realizing what the religion truly says instead of what's spoon fed to you on these boards or over the media. If you were truly interested about discussion religion, you wouldn't being with some poor attack on what you think the religion holds, which it does not. Did you know that... *Islam gave the women the right to vote 1400 years ago. Compare this to America which gave women the right to vote in 1920 when Susan B. Anthony and others began the suffrage movement. *Islam gave women the right to own property. Again, this only occurred in the U.S. 80 years ago compared to Islam's 1400 years ago. *Islam gave women the right to choose whether or not to marry a person. Early Christian women were often forced into marriage by their fathers. *Islam gave the women the right to now have to work if they did not want to. In Islam, the man is responsible for housing, food, etc. for the women. A woman does not have to work, though if she chooses to, she can. However, all the income she makes is hers and hers alone as opposed to the man's whose income is 50% to his wife. And these are just a few things...now compare the treatment of women in the Bible. Paul says in Corinthians 11:7: >>A man ought not to cover his head, [1] since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.<< What? A woman is the glory of man? That seems pretty "Sub-human" to me. Compare to Islam which says that a man and woman are equal but different. The only way one exceeds the other is by improving their "taqwa" or knowledge of God. Corinthians 11:6 >>If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.<< Whats this? Could it be a suggestion for a woman to cover her head? And there are many more places I could show you where the Bible says the woman should obey her husband or that the woman is responsible for the sin of manking (as opposed to the Qur'an which says that Adam and Eve were equally responsible for the sin). It goes to show you what you can learn if you actually question your beliefs instead of making flauting attacks that only speaks of your intelligence, and nothing else. Ray
