Nice post Cheryl. Great actually.

I got in a PM war with Ron and he started grouping me with McVeigh. That is the answer to him-- that we are all some group of wackos.

I AM A PATRIOT!!!!

When did that word turn BAD?

patriot

patriot (pâ'trê-et, -òt') noun
One who loves, supports, and defends one's country.

[French patriote, from Old French, compatriot, from Late Latin patriota, from Greek patriotês, from patrios, of one's fathers, from patêr, patr-, father.]

CK,

My self-righteousnous?? Jesus!! I hear people out here who think the gov't is some monolithic beast bent upon destroying their freedoms at every turn. They see world conspiracy at every corner, when the gov't can't even handle a foreign covert operation without the newspapers throwing light on it.

How am I being self-righteous by pointing out the delusional illogic of others?

There are so many people living their lives in fear from criminal activities going on in their neighborhoods. They can't walk the streets with confidence at night in parts of DC for fear of being mugged or raped. There biggest complaint?? That cops don't spend enough time in their neighborhoods (because they're afraid to go there to).

What's the greatest tyranny? That of the government authority, or the tyranny of the masses who have no respect for basic law?

CK, so the NG may be planning for disruptions in Y2K. What's the big deal? You're not saying they shouldn't plan, are you?? (I know you better than that, CK... :0)

So the NG is forming regional specialist teams at the direction of the Feds as a first response team of specialists should we become the target of a biological, or chemical terrorist attack?

Do you mean we shouldn't prepare for that?

So we have cyberterrorists threatening our informational infrastructure?? We shouldn't plan and prepare defenses against that??

What I resent CK is the implication that any action that the gov't leadership belatedly take to prepare for Y2K or some other domestic emergency is construed as an infringement on our rights.

So the gov't may declare martial law over Y2K. Then again, they may not. I really don't care since my life will go on and we will all adjust to the new reality and attempt to straighten out our lives.

What I don't understand is why you continue to point these things out. Again I say BIG DEAL that somebody is finally starting to plan. I would be more upset if they WEREN'T planning. (and that has been the story over the past 3 years.)

What I resent is that people don't think things through and they let their emotions and fears overtake their common sense.

Regards,

Ron
