Even without Intel competition, AMD would not be able to get their chips into the expensive computers that the big PC makers like Dell will sell. It doesn't seem fair but it is like picking up a no name brand cola drink when Coke, the real thing is available. The no name cola may be even tastier but that won't matter.

Unless AMD gets taken over by a big name or does a lot of advertising, it won't succeed no matter how hard it tries. Only a revolutionary product will result in them having a great chance in the future.
