If the NG has my attitude?? You are the people with the attitudes that are just a bit scary to the rest of us. You guys are the ones who want to throw the babies out with the bathwater. Some administrative hack at BATF wants to make a name for himself and his agency, and winds up getting four of his own agents killed. That is not career enhancing nor good for confidence in the ranks. Get over Waco, people. I'm not telling you to forget it, nor do I think we should excuse the heavy handed and reckless tactics that were implemented in what was an obviously "touchy" situation. People died on both sides as a result of that initial. But once committed to the situation after shots were fired, NEITHER SIDE was able to muster the will to end the siege. Koresh and his adult followers was willing to fulfill his "prophecy" of a fiery Armageddon with the gov't, and the FBI agents had the knowledge that four BATF agents were dead and there was no "going easy" on Koresh and his members. Caught in between, the children. And when it comes to defending myself, if I'm fired at in an unprovoked manner and I can't find a place to take cover or flee, then damn right I would fire back. But if it was a cop, I would find the first opportunity to surrender in the most publicly visible manner possible . I want people to know that I have been detained and why. It is not a crime to defend yourself. But it is a crime to resist arrest, regardless of whether that arrest is warranted or not. You have the obligation to submit to authority and then straighten out the mess later in a court of law (That's what Lawyers are for). ' You do not have the right to fire it up with the law just because you disagree with their rationale for wanting to arrest you. But you do have the right to have a lawyer present when you surrender. Your best defense in such a situation is to make sure that people see you get arrested and have as many witnesses as possible to keep certain abusive LE officers in line.If I shoot it out with the Law, then I know that I'm the only one who is going to lose, because I will be dead. And it is better to be alive in a holding cell fighting a legal battle, than suddenly stricken by a lethal case of "lead poisoning". Your decision. Think about it tough guy. I dare you to go walking into the local courthouse with a pistol on your hip. And when the cop tries to take it from you, tell him to screw himself because your excercising your constitutional right to bear arms. At this point he'll probably draw his weapon on you. I would suggest you defend yourself and your god-given constititional rights at that time. After all, you are the tough guy, right?? At least over the internet, you are. In person, you would probably pee your britches if a cop confronted you. I doubt you would have the cajones to stick up for your civil rights in a real-life situation. Regards, Ron
