Adenoviruses, the same kind of viruses that cause the common cold, had a higher rate of delivery--but the immune system soon kicked the foreign material out of the body. I found more some stuff in syllabus for BIOL 540 Biotechnology at Indiana University -- Purdue University Indianapolis. iupui.edu from which we have Adenovirus (Ad) - highly expressed in non-dividing tissues and have the capacity to carry long segments of genetic information (good!). However, adenoviruses induce a strong immune system and are soon eliminated from the patient (bad!) Have recently been modified to eliminate the strong antigenic response. You know where this is leading:-) ...getting closer, only a few more posts and we will be there...
