You are talking about changing history here where "rapidly" doesn't mean one day of one year. It takes US many years to reach the democratic system today. Look at this fact: in only a few years, China has implemented election system from village (I know, to you or other people here who has enjoyed democracy, that's not a big deal) gradually to county level. Communists candidates often fail on those election. People's congress has started debate on issues and more and more congressman have started to vote NO on bills introduced by communists. Such a change in a few years in truly remarkable -- although I don't expect you to fully understand it. You never lived in the place and time where your mother had to tell you not to write Mao's name at the beginning of a line for fear someone may add a "down with" in front of it and get you into trouble. I will never forget those days.

Sorry for off topic to every one on this thread. I should have focused the debate about China's political situation around one issue: whether this statement is true:

>Now I have friends and know people who trade with China....The >purported "news" about major financial deals and money coming
>out of China to me are JUST PLAIN FICTION...

I think that question has been answered. I will stop discussing politics here since I am too busy to explain China's history and situation here. The last time I did a lot of political discussion was many years ago on "social.culture.china" (a discussion group on USENET -- there was no www at that time), I was still a ph.D student then and had a lot of time to kill.
