Thank you for your words of confidence. I for one think your opinion adds some clear thinking and perspective in times when rumors like this surface. Seems interesting that the anal-its come out one day before earnings and a three-day weekend so that everyone can write about it for the weekend rags!

<< My personal belief is that they will beat the whisper number by two to three cents and have some eye popping announcement.>>

Voltaire: I couldn't agree more. I honestly feel that DELL will have a blowout quarter (exceed the estimates by 2-4 cents), announce record online sales, great forward guidance with respect to new growth initiatives (in servers, storage, and overseas), announce a 2 for 1 split and regain its "star quality" on Wall Street. DELL is already viewed very positively by the leading mutual fund firms (like Janus and Legg Mason) that consistently outperform. I'm sure that they are considering buying DELL at a little discount today.

Next Week the truth will be revealed. My bet is these ANALysts that jumped the gun (from Robbie Stephens and Salamon) will wish they had waited. Within 5 days they will look quite naive. What the heck, they already look a little crazy....can you imagine Salamon having a "market perform" on DELL in the last few months. Hmmmm....last time I checked DELL was significantly outperforming the average S&P stock. These guys just don't seem to get it. Oh well, they create some great buying opportunities.

I am tired at seeing CNBC and analysts trashing stocks to serve themselves.
With DELL, its almost as if they want DELL to stay below 100 so the company won't split ....

Voltaire, I agree with you that MDell may be pissed off and not even show up at the conference.
I bought recently at ~97 and am holding. If stock goes lower I will average down. I bought just for the earnings.
I think that the numbers will be great. This was a booming Q4.The Journal recently said that many businesses are OVERBUYING in early 1999 computers and software, in preparation for y2k " because they don't want to be caught short.
This is just a cheap shot from a couple of anal-ists when Dell can't reply in the quiet period. The announcement was timed for the weekend too so as to have the biggest effect. I remember this happened ~ 2 years ago and Dell trounced the numbers. It almost looks like an annual ritual. The timing also was on Bubba's impeachment verdict day so as to shake the troops some more, GG.
I was up 4% yesterday cause I been buying all the " expensive", gg, Internuts last week.
I think the market will continue to go up.
What happens to Bubba is of ZERO consequence. If they boot him out, great. Because he had zero to do with this recovery X 8 years. If he walks that's fine too because he has effectively been castrated. There will be none of new grandiose programs to be added to the Giant
VISA/MASTERCARD Debt called the National 1.5 trillion dollar debt that this nation already owes. Angry Republicans with a High School wrestling coach as Senate Speaker will not let him stick his and the Dems' party greasy fingers into the taxpayers pockets for another giveaway program.
Computers and the Internet is were it's at. Dell with AOL on it's desktop are going to go places .For safety's sake,gg, I added YHOO,LCOS ( the deal withUSA will be rejected unless LCOS price is higher ), INKT, ATHM CMGI, CSCO,MSFT and a sprinkle of PER(OT)!! although I may sell PER cause I am not sure that the little red haired man is 100% on, gg!!
Good luck

TA

JUST AN IMPRESSION!
First of all, as you know, Dell is going to open lower but should recover 50% of the Gap Down and finish at that % down for the day. In other words, if it gaps down 9 pts., it should finish down about 4 1 /2 for the day.

You said I think the impressions that Michael Dell and the boys left at the Goldman Conference could possibly have been intentional. Some people on the thread will recall that I posted that Michael Dell was pissed because of the way the street received his fantastic quarter. I said at the time that Michael was pissed and would not utter word all quarter. If you noticed, he was nowhere to be found.

My personal belief is that they will beat the whisper number by two to three cents and have some eye popping announcement.
