Hey Tony,

re:FWIW, according to First Call, last update I have on 1/30/99, $5.10 is the highest estimate of 33 they track. The low is $4.37.

Splitting the difference, we arrive at 4.73. Let's say Intel earns exactly that this year. Then we have a forward PE of @26-27. Pretty good, IMO, relatively speaking of course.

I bet Intel beats 4.73 for the year (judging from this past Q and the guidance given in the CC). If they hit 5.10, then we're looking at a PE of 25-26. This is historically high for Intel, but cheap compared to the market.

Convoluted logic? Perhaps.

Chris

Tony,

Continuing with this (and pulling out the ol' calculator).

If Intel does hit 4.73$, then we're seeing earnings growth (from '98) of %37 (this is not including special charges, so I believe the operating income would be higher for '98, but let's continue anyway).

If Intel garners 5.10$ per share, then we're seeing 48% growth! With a forward PE of 26!

I don't have the charges from last year readily available. They would increase last year's # and decrease the growth rate (not telling you anything new, I'm sure).

Anyway you slice it, IMO, INTC is screaming "BUY ME" these days.
