Sorry Nick , that is not thier model at all. They have a technology that will likely be incorporated into the set top box if they play their cards right. If not, it will be a stand alone product sold at retail to hook up to your cable box, but they still would have to have agreements with the Cable MSO.

What they have is a device that will allow the home viewer to imput their favorite programing, interests and channels via a on line Q&A. The system will also have intelligence and it will monitor what you watch. After that it will spend every day, 24 hours a day searching the 120 channels of cable programming seeking out content that matches your profile. Then you simply sit in front of the TV and browse through what it has stored and decide what you would like to view.

TIVO allows you to see programming that you might not have known about or found by clicking channel after channel. Also, you will see programming that would interest you, but it is on at a time of day that you won't be home (or awake). I like the concept and if they play it right, they will be licencing their technology to the box makers. Paul Allen has provided them with financing. I think they are a company to watch, but they aren't video on demand, they are a digitized intelligent VCR.
