Bob/Rman:

Although I've never met him, tommysdad is a long-time friend from the AGPH thread and elsewhere. He seems to be really sharp, but that's just because he copies me.

He is actually single and doesn't have any children. He got the nickname through volunteer work at the San Diego Zoo, Condor Rescue program. A chick named "Tommy" was two hours old when power failed to the aviary. TD actually "took roost" to keep Tommy warm while electrical repairs were made. Unfortunately, a reporter showed up....... second section in the San Diego Union, but still a pretty big headline...... "Scientist Plays Tommy's Dad", right above a rather embarrassing photo (not obscene, obviously, but with pants down). Laughed like hell when I saw it. Sometime in '95, I think.
