if you can afford Dell, than GO for it!! i know i can't afford to spend $10,000 for a measley 100 shares.. of course if the stock goes up 10 bucks for the day, you have a nice $1000 profit for the day.. its all the same as the pennies but on a larger scale, thats all.. I too hope that i can get enough $$$ together to start playing these big ones too.. because "usually" when they are "supposed" to go up $10, they do! you NEVER know with a BB stock know do you?

Daniel, forget Dell. Buy GATEWAY. (GTW). A MUCH better value and more stable. Also heard two analysts recommended it over Dell.

Daniel, I'd hold off on DELL for a while.

Most brokers have downgraded them as they are whispering that qtr ended 1/31 is not going to be good. Some are even postulating near break even.

This could really tube the stock (at least from a current price standpoint) to hit around a P/E of 50.

I put in a GTC order yesterday for $52/share. As I do a lot of business with the broker he would take it being so far off the market price. I'll just check on it every day.

If you have the guts and the cash to short DELL IMO now is probably a good time to do it. If the news isn't hitting first call estimates when earnings are released I can't see how this will hold its gains of the last few months. Personally I can't justify DELL stock price now, or even at $52 from traditional fundamentals, so I just can't get comfortable shorting something that is such a puzzle to me.

Further FYI at a company I have an interest in where we used to get all our computers from DELL we switched to Gateway this summer. Don't know why but our DP guys are pretty good. My guess is they got the same or better product at a better price. Just a couple years earlier we switched from Compac to Dell.

At least that's my opinion. What's everybody else think?
