" Prices go higher on select DRAM as requirements increase while product
availability continues to show little improvement. The following 16 MEG
products are affected: 1MX16 1K REF 5V SOJ in FPM and EDO, 1MX16 SYNCH 2
BANKS PC-100 TSOP; and 2MX8 FPM 2K REF 5V SOJ. In the 64 MEG capacity,
4MX16 in all modes and 16MX4 EDO 4K REF 3V SOJ is trading at higher prices.
Prices in the Intel CPU market weaken as OEM's continue offering excess to
the open market."according to AICE

The Lunar New Year celebration will virtually close the Asian market from
tomorrow until late next week. Traditionally, this has impacted the Dram
market in the US and Europe since the Asian region is a vital source of
product. Price weakness is still affecting the Intel CPU market, especially
with MMX and slower Pentium II product.

A telling indication attesting to the health of the DRAM market conditions
is the OEM buyers who are trying to lock-in long term purchases with the
merchant OEM's are being spurned. The general feeling is that price levels
will continue to climb. The Intel CPU market continues its recent trends of
lighter trading and weaker prices.

DRAM trading activity remains healthy and pricing is mostly stable with
some upside moves in 16 MEG and 64 MEG product. In the 16 MEG capacity,
1MX16 configurations are higher. In the 64 MEG capacity, 4MX16 EDO 4K REF
3V TSOP and 16MX4 EDO 4K REF 3V in both SOJ and TSOP are trading higher.
Prices in the Intel CPU market are weaker in the MMX family and lower speed
Pentium II product.

At the beginning of the week, DRAM and Intel CPU trading is stable. The
news in the DRAM market is that the LG strike is over and should take at
least a couple weeks before normal production capacity resumes. Otherwise,
there are a couple of price increases to note in the 64 MEG capacity on the
4MX16 SYNCH 4 BANKS 3V TSOP and 8MX8 FPM 4K REF 3V TSOP.

...The one...in Singapore is going to be used mostly for testing.

Fabeyes, could you explain this concerning TECH semiconductor in more detail or provide a link? Thanx.
