Yes, one advantage of XRM is working at the water window for
"live" or "vapor pressure" specimens. Although, recently,
SEM manufacturers have made available a "variable pressure"
option to allow running SEM in the presence of water vapor.
We are just about to purchase such a unit.

Coincidently, I had worked with the Swedish group a few
years ago, when they were looking into adapting their plasma
x-ray source for use in x-ray lithography. I really like the
design of their source, which has some advantages over the
targets used by JMAR IMO. I had referred them to JMAR a couple
years ago, but I don't think anything came of it at the time.
I might revisit that some day.
