Drew,
consider not actually putting the shares you purchase for children in any custodial account. I found out too late that it completely limits your options later when there is a boat load of money.
Your child can take posession of potentially millions and you have NO say in the matter.

If you want to hold shares for them consider creating a trust that you are the trustee of which you can control as the trust document reads.

Consult an accountant or an attorney for more info.
