With ICQ or IRC is there any way to see prior messages if you weren't logged on from the beginning of the day?

IRC seemed to take up too much bandwidth on my dial-up connection, so I gave up trying to use it a long time ago.

Personally, I like SI's message format.

While at work, my Firewall stops all chat, this would be for more than just me. So IRC and ICQ both are not options for many people.

This means of course, that I want to earn enough to trade full time.
