If the long bond continues to back up, I wouldn't rule out a 1987 type event. With so much on line trading, the Internet could be temporarily swamped. Small investors locked into tulip type positions may get hurt worse than any of us imagine. This isn't a prediction, because I have great respect for Rubin and Greenspan, but it is not out of the question either.
