I have heard a lot of speculation on the tube of late that individual investors are unable to do it for themselves. We will all buy high and sell low because we are too ignorant to handle our own money without "their" help.
I actually heard one guy on the radio yesterday say that half of all investors should not be in the market, they should be in cash. He was not talking about short term, he said NEVER be in the market. The problem, he said, is that people that should accept the sure thing (cash) were unwilling to. Boy would you be in great shape with this guy as your broker. "Hey honey, pass the cat food, ain't retirement grand!"
Institutional investors have perhaps even more incentive to jump ship than you and I do. If I make a bad call and hold DELL too long, I have 30 years to make up for it. THEY can loose their jobs over it.
It is an unfortunate and true statement that many of the businesses in this country are run by men that cannot see past the length of their penises. If there is not immediate and pleasurable feedback, they don't want any part of it.

Another poster asked me what I thought about today's action. This was my reply.

I believe:

that Anal lyst make statements largely for their own profit;

that the investment establishment is intellectually inbred enough to believe its own propaganda;

that the investment establishment is afraid of losing business because of individual investors;

they warn us that individuals will not react soberly to short term news and market gyrations as a way of telling us that we must have them to be safe;

that although I am down many thousands today, I am up over 80% in just 6 months of owning DELL;

that if your investment horizon is more than two weeks, this represents a significant buying opportunity.
