Gregg,

Last September they dropped us to 2 1/16 and then suddenly one afternoon on no news they shot us up to almost 5 in about an hour. I feel that the market makers want to cover at as low of a price as possible and they want to see some capitulation to perhaps a new low. When they realize that they wont be able to get any real sellers at sub 2 1/2 levels, they will realize that they are going to have to cover all the shares still held short.

Vivus still has 99 institutions holding over 6 million shares of stock. This fact alone leads me to believe that the institutional investors have hardly given up on the future of Vivus. I have watched small cap tech stocks go from over 50% institutional ownership to less than 5%. That's usually when a stock drops to the sub $2.00 level.

You have that one figured out alright. When they can't shake any more out the stock will begin to move up.
