Jim, if I may say, you have a listening audience. Your life in many ways is so different from mine, and perhaps "ours." There is a quarter of me, a full quarter, that wants to know what you know. As though key perspectives are in there. Key parts or perspectives that would help us be people. You should be a Character. (Uh - oh.) I mean that positively. As in a character in a film. A visual/cultural personality, and point of view, people can see, understand, learn from, and appreciate. I might guess it sounds intellectually elitist or snobby, but it feels like the Library of Congress or The Smithsonian or John Grisham or somebody should be listening and recording what you say. You're a character, dude. Meant in the best sense of the word, not a chiding/demeaning sense. I "aspire" to be a character. You have some lectures to put out; worth listening to. For people to broaden their horizons, as they say. To learn something new. If I were rich (ahem), I would see if I could get an hour of you with Bill Moyers. That would do nicely. He has a way of reaching and presenting people's best ideas. Some of what you say confuses me ~ as when one is listening to language or ideas that are new ~ it makes me want to get on a pier, and into conversation, so one can listen and ask. Gesture and point. (What I think of as "Italian" conversation.) Your passion, and ethics, are to me like running into someone who would be a Founding Father. Listening to your views, your dedication, is like counterpoint in the most positive-sense. Something genuine, we might not otherwise hear. Do you get to drink beer? Can you slip a life preserver over someone who struggles?
