My reasons were first and foremost, poor cash position. This has been somewhat alleviated, but is still significantly there. The company expenses, including legal fees for fighting 3 law suits against bigger companies (SGI, 3Dfx, and S3) should be a big burden on top of the regular expenses.

(2) Odds are they will lose one of the 3 suits and get hurt badly.

(3) Everyone talks about how stiff is the competition for 3Dfx, well it has to be at least as tough for nVidia. This is an industry in the middle of consolidation. That means there will be a lot less companies in it 2 years from now. My guess is that nVidia will be one of the casualties.

BTW, this is what nVidia has going for it:

(1) Cunningness
(2) Survival instinct (never should be underestimated)
(3) Lifeline from a new product line
(4) Support (for obvious reasons) from CREAF and DIMD

BTW, Creative is lost at sea and Diamond, if it knows what's good for it, will buy out nVidia at almost any price.

Timbur...
<<Also, why is it that many of my friends are becoming TNT converts, and are purchasing them retail not OEM, yet TNT is not in the top 5 of the PC Data lists?>>

Most of us are extremely computer literate and so many recognize the subtle differences. The fact of the matter is the buying public isn't as technology aware as the rest of us and it is a mistake to try to use our own experiences as a sales indicator.

I think that means you need new friends. Seen any pods in your neighborhood?
