Jach and thread,

Has anyone calculated the total 'special charges' that Cisco had this past year? I'd do it but I don't really have the time right now. Last Q it was .19, which was more than 1/2 of income for the Q.

To simply look at the PE in the newspaper or on Yahoo obviously doesn't tell the whole story in terms of valuation. Someone else had indicated that the actual PE was @ 80; compared to Cisco's historical 60. But does the historical PE include the charges?

Obviously an expansive, acquisitive company like Cisco is going to have many more charges than most co.s, so to say "PE=120" is a pretty facile way of proving a point ("Cisco is overvalued"). I would be more interested in hearing about how the current price and the current actual operating income compares to the historical price and historical actual operating income.

Thoughts, input anyone?

Chris
