The anger about which you speak is not there, Michelle. As I said in an earlier post, despite the resistance to removal, about a third were strongly against, about a third were strongly for, and the remaining third didn't much care. Hyde is not senile; Barr is not representative, but he is not beyond the pale; and the religious right is a valuable part of the conservative coalition. It isn't a question of courage, Michelle, we just see things differently.

I'm as conservative as you get and I've got no "religious agenda" nor do the conservatives I hang out with. You far over estimate the influence of so-called religious groups on the conservative agenda. I am proud of Henry Hyde. It took a lot of guts to pursue this matter to the end. That WAS true leadership. The type we need more of. JLA
