Porcupines Ravage Estate
(Last updated 11:17 AM ET February 8)

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Hundreds of voracious porcupines have been wreaking havoc in a palm oil plantation in the center of the huge island of Borneo, Indonesia's Antara news agency reported Monday.

"Due to the attack, more than 500 oil palm trees were destroyed," it quoted an official with plantation owner PT Multi Persada Gatra Megah Kurmansyah as saying.

The agency offered no explanation for the sudden destructiveness of the porcupines in central Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of Borneo.
