They can't.
There are two standards: Compared with other brokerages; compared with old datek.
Datek is worse than before, but still better than a lot of other online brokerages.
If they make improvement, customers from other brokerages will flood in, so to wash out their improvement. Do they have capacity to take all customers of U.S.? Even if they have, that will need a long time.
The smartest thing is to set up a premium service that charges a little higher fee, no matter a monthly fee or a higher commission.
Could datek try the way etrade is doing? Like offer better service to customers that make some amount of trades per period.
If I trade 50 trades per month, I can enjoy free level II and fast order entry - What a beautiful dream.
