When these software companies (MSFT or INTU or ORCL) get a monopoly or near-monopoly; they quickly forget about the end-user.

>>>three days ago my Q99 started refusing to download quotes, returning a "server not found" error.

I have had that one from time to time, maybe 3 times since October. But I get that at this site too sometimes. I give it a half hour, and I'm back in.

>>>and it STILL screws up almost every time I try to pay a bill "asap" -- I am told the NEW version for some reason takes no note of weekends and postal holidays, making for payments being repeatedly rejected as "too late," necessitating re-dating the transaction, logging on again, etc.

I haven't tried to do an asap..

Brooks,

I think Q99 is a pretty good product. Like any complicated program, there are many bugs in the initial release. Lets see, Microsoft is up to Service Pack 4 on Windows NT... I agree that 3 releases in a matter of 3-4 months is a little high.

IMHO, the one-step update feature of Q99 is a fantastic feature. I've also grown to like the web like feel including the customizable home page.

I've been banking and paying bills online w/ Q99 through NationsBank Florida and experienced some difficulties with the initial release which was fixed with R2. Occasionally, the program gets out-of-sync w/ NationsBank and I have to close the program and re-open. It thinks the payment processing method has been changed.

Anyway , I would rate Q99 a 6-7 on a scale of 10 and think it is an evolutionary step towards the web paradigm that Intuit is moving towards. BTW, a lot of times the errors can be attributed to your bank and not Quicken.

Sam (IMHO)
