But are there programs where VAR can resell DELL's ? I mean, we have to make a little $$ off the end user at least.

TP,

There is a VAR program. Last time I checked for my company about two years ago, margins were at 5-6%. Not very good compared to our 20%+ on CPQ ProLiant servers. Have installed a couple of small Dell Servers with NT and Unix. Customer bought them on web. We charged labor to convert SW and install and/or reconfigure the nets. We made our profits on service end. Dell has been exceptionally responsive with us even though the customers ordered directly from Dell. I think they would have a big thing if they could offer 10 points on small servers and at least 15 on Enterprise Servers. There is a nether land between supporting a small server and a very large server. I am sure they have looked at this long and hard.

Rudedog, who frequents this thread, usually has insights into Dell's inner workings. You might PM him on the VAR issue..
