Mr. Doug Fowler

It's apparent you do not understand Dell's business model. The lower the price the better it is for Dell. IBM, Compaq have a higher cost than Dell.

Thank You

JK

Doug:
May I respond to your post by some perhaps unrelated statements:
1. It is error to consider Dells success as related to the production of x number of gismos pictured as commodity items
at ever lower prices. Dell has purposely avoided the cuthroat
store retail and reseller environment and is working up the ladder
to server and mass storage areas where margins have been in the vicinity of 30%, as opposed to the ~8% margin that Dell has enjoyed in the past.
2. The quantity of P/C's( or whatever Dell produces in the near future) will grow enormously when China, India, and Brazil get "wired" or go wireless and can therefore use computers and the internet.
3. Progressive companies which will survive and prosper will
replace computer gear on a regular basis as newer equipment
becomes available from Dell or others, and many have set up purchase/replacement programs and schedules with Dell contracts to do that.
4. Dell customers trust the Dell company and Michael. Their is no way- NO WAY- that anyone who works for Dell is going to pull some 'shenagins' or produce some BS story that would affect Dells price during the week of earnings. Because they would not be working for Dell next week. The facts "Just the facts, Mam", is all we will hear. ( sorry about the tirade, am just a bit irked at some ^^%%hole analyst statements and am kind of talking to myself here)
