As soon as the next correction hits, day trading will fade out of the limelight. BUT day traders will have exposed the inefficient market making systems on the NASDAQ that national brokerage firms have been using for years to milk their clients. The momentum behind the move towards ECN's is now unstoppable and will change the way markets operate forever. Etrade has moved towards ECN's and soon all the dominos will fall along Wall Street to retain market share.

In reality I think they are talking about getting day trading firms to put the equivalent of a warning label on the packs of cigarettes they sell.
