GST,

<people who had to have somebody dial the broker and tell them what to say -- I saw these people gathered around exchanging stories about 'how to get in', about giving up saving for a house and playing the market -- etc. >

Is that really happening to any great degree ? I have heard of people quitting their jobs and doing daytrading full time. And I have heard of people borrowing money to max their IRA and 401k mutual funds. But not really to buy internet stocks at retail. I thought the mania was mainly day traders.

YOU can have the honor of picking the hat.......especially since the arguement is academic anyway. Now that book from AMZN, I'm shortlisting my picks.....<grin>

I just wondered how you got time to post so often...me, I am jobless right now - have a 6 month old to take care of, so am off work for another 6 months.

and don't worry, I don't play with milk money or the money I cannot spare, but must admit, the last 2 weeks have been more of a nightmare. Its mostly been TMCS, CSCO and now DELL. But I lived in the Middle East for 9+ years, and though its a tough place to live, they try and make up for it in other ways....<grin>
