Jock... Here is a comment back from December of '97 when Kurlak had just downgraded MU at the bottom.
Message 3004649
You are certainly entitiled to your more charitable view of Tom's calls...and we wish him no ill...but he has been on the wrong side of most calls (in my recollection) in the semis for quite some time. Other analysts...almost all...appear to me to have better records. We understand why he is departing...
With the best of wishes..

Hi Jock:

> I would also point out that ALL OF US (me included) fell flat on our face when we took a shot at predicting future price moves just this most recent spring.

The only thing I point out is the fact that "WE" are not paid millions to sit there all day long and analyze the market and the industry, while someone like Kurlak was hired to do exactly that for Merrill Lynch and its customers.

Just think if a doctor fails in his diagnosis of a patient, can "we" claim that: Oh well, it does not matter, "we" who are not physicians would have also made the same error when trying to do the diagnosis!!
