Intel now has several good IA32 designs in the pipeline, but they are way behind K7. AMD will have to screw up really badly this time to miss the opportunity.

What was it that was discussed here earlier about politics? That one has to be stupid to do the same thing over and over and expect different results?

I'll expect the same results, thank you.

Slickly Slippery - Re: "AMD will have to screw up really badly this time to miss the opportunity. "

A fundamental law if physics:

If AMD can screw up, they WILL screw up.

K5 - DOA
K6 yields - BIG LOSSES
3DNOW - no software support
K6-2 400 MHz - LOW YIELDS
K6-2 450 MHz - NO YIELDS
K6-3 - One quarter late - going on two.
Quarterly losses in 9 quarters out of the past 13.

Scumbria,

<AMD will have to screw up really badly this time to miss the opportunity.>

"This time"....LOL....AMD has made an art form out of screwing up. In fact, this is about the only thing they have excelled at.

Given AMD's past record, you can trust them to screw up again. In fact it would be a major surprise if they don't.
