I'd say there needs to be better screening of people day trading through firms like Waterhouse,DLJ,Discover,NDB,Datek,etc,etc. The combination of inexperienced traders,inadequate systems,and the practice of selling order flow almost guarrantees that these people will lose. That's where the REAL risk lies for the public! At least day trading firms provide adequate systems, some basic training, and direct access to the markets. Ultimately the responsibility lies with the individual - always has always will. Cheers!
