[re: BEL]

If what you are saying is true, WSTL would have been better off never shipping a !@#$%^&*( modem to BEL. PAIR is looking smarter and smarter every day for not getting involved in the forward pricing crap. This would be major management blunder to lose all this money primarily because of BEL and have nothing to show for it. I HATE HATE HATE freaking telephone companies. But I also hate cable. Maybe I will get service from some independent wireless provider in the future. I guess, WSTL April 22 quarter should have much better numbers if they stopped shipping to BEL. I wish they would just sell the damn company to someone who can manage worth a damn like LU. I mentioned several times in previous posts concerning this nagging question!

Good job SKi calling Grady. IS there any possibility that ALA will just re-brand WSTL products and he wasn't aware? I doubt it. WSTL seems to lose every major contract they are involved with.

Ski, good investigative reporting, but the news is not what I wanted to hear. It does explain the stock action though. If Alcatel is now providing BEL with DMT as well as CPE it sure makes Westell appear a loser. You are right, this is the kind of information we should have. I thank you for the efforts you made to find out more information and to post it. I've been a fan of ADSL since '95, but it seems it is a technology that is being choked and suffocated by the RBOCs. It depends on them for implementation and they want it for nothing. To play in their park you have to have a club bigger than theirs. Westell does not appear to be in their league.

DR.TECH, do you have comments on Ski's information?

Thanks Ski. I'm anxious to know MZ's reply.
Michael

Skiawal, Comment and Question..

Ski, First off I want to THANK YOU for not only digging deep for that information (as disturbing as it is) but a BIGGER thank you for sharing it with us! I couldn't hardly believe what I was reading and had to re-read it many times. IMHO, Westell was VERY concerned about lawsuits resulting from Seamans "3 contracts" statement and general hype and has, since then, been extremely careful about what they say, limiting what they say to practically nothing and even gone to the extent to somewhat down play even the positive news in an attempt to protect their ass against possible future lawsuits.

My question is:
Could it have been only 1Q99 that Grady was talking about when he said that ALA was providing complete DMT & CPE since he also stated that BEL would offer several different CPE's in the future? If so, then maybe it isn't as bad as it seems since Westell might still get BEL business for anything AFTER 1Q99.

Thanks again for EXCELLENT investigative reporting!!!

skiawal--

well, this should be a suprise but it really is anticlimatic. kind of funny actually.

these guys are the biggest losers of all time. i can not believe how badly they have managed what i think will quickly become a fiasco.

that being said...i think Mr. Grady was speaking out of school. however, if this is true...its time to put ADSL aside and focus on other efforts. its time to shift to profitablity. let the rest of the flock of ADSL wannabe's get killed over the low margin CPE business.

one other thing that might get seamens off the hook...if what you stated in a previous post (re: TXN, MOT, GTE, BEL, etc. lying to seamans) is true....we get to sue them directly.

good luck to all,
trey
