>Am I
misunderstanding something you are saying?<

I have no way of telling. You say I'm being fallacious in my argument. But the CDC leadership and the staff of JAMA are antis, and that's a fact. It is a basic tenet of modern life that any organization with a vested interest, declared or otherwise, will launder and tweak any lies, damn lies, and statistics issuing from its letterhead. So I would expect the CDC to strive to defame the gun as a "mortal enemy of all right-thinking citizens". It's consistent with their past actions.

> I have no problem at all with the police raiding houses to confiscate guns, and
would duly note that the Japanese government does not seem to be taking away from its citizens any
basic freedoms simply because everyone is not armed to the teeth! <

The Japanese do not have a Bill of Rights. Their constitution and parliamentary form of government are different on paper. There just isn't the same level of protection of, and interest in, the rights of the privateer, whether a person or a firm. It's a whole different way of life. Japan ain't for me.
We do have a Bill of Rights in this country. Different ground rules here. Police raids and confiscations are just plain wrong. Period. The fact that you don't mind them to further your notion of a safer, more controlled society doesn't make it right. Imho.

>Having said that, you are using an AD HOMINEM
argument of sorts--attacking the source of information.<

Yopu paid attention to Jfred's ripostes!! I recognize the style. But for the reasons above I submit that my logic is sound.
On this board we will be in polite disagreement. But in the voting booth I imagine we will be implacably at odds. I for one do not think it's proper for the police to be violating all manner of basic civil rights, Second Amendment or no, to transfer power into the hands of the oligarchs. You're cheering them on. I don't get it. It's not *like* you to cheer for the oppressor.
