My broker recently requested thatI adjust my foreign RRSP content. I had to transfer money out of my foreign content so as to reduce it to 20% of my overall RRSP portfolio. My non-canadian investment outperformed my canadian investment.

I believe this adjustment is due prior to the end of January of each year.

So now that you have $1M you can contribute up to 20% or $200K outside Canada. All the best.

Martin

Chris:
You should able to get this information from your broker.
The foreign content is the 20% of your BOOK VALUE, not the MARKET VALUE. The book value changes every time when you trade a stock. So it is hard to say what is your book value if you trade often. However the monthly statement should indicate an amount of your book value.
