Al, thanks for the response. Slow Friday night here, so I'll keep it going. Check the following for rig counts in North America:

As I read it the U.S. rig count drilling for gas is at 422, down from 582 a year ago. Total Cdn active rig count is at 341, down from 511 a year ago - not sure how this breaks out oil to gas. This would seem to indicate to me that there is in fact substantially less drilling for gas now than a year ago. I assume that has nothing to do with the market for gas - they just don't have the money to do it.

Do you have any hard numbers for active rigs gas drilling in Canada now as opposed to a year ago?

AEC expects to produce 1 billion cubic ft/day of gas in 2000, a first for any Canadian company.
