It appears you were very displeased with Dell's performance today.

Your "ipso facto" that Dell's growth rate is not getting slower is contradicted by the fact that it IS getting slower.

In fact, Dell's year over year growth rate has been slowing down for some time.

How do YOU explain that?

And to try to compare the Microsoft monopoly to the cut-throat hardware situation is a very, very poor analogy.

You people seem to miss the point that I think Dell is a great company that has had a wonderful run, and made many people a lot of money.

But their growth rate is slowing down.

Is that so hard to accept?

>>DELL really doesn't play in the low profit margin under $1,250 PC.<<

It wasn't too long ago that Dell didn't sell a PC for under $1700.

Right now Dell is offering a PC for $1299 in the latest issue of PC World. That $1299 includes a 17" monitor. Dell must be paying close to $200 for that monitor. Subtract that out and Dell is selling the system for about $1100.

Less than a year ago, the bulls on this thread were saying Dell would NEVER play in the sub-$1000 space.

Looks like Dell is getting pretty close to me....
