As far as Hall of Fame members, I'm not a CompactCard user, but I did see Daniel Guterman (SanDisk Director of Technology at the time) presenting their Flash technology at a Short Course in December of 1995 (at International Electron Device Meeting in DC). That was back when half of the foils still listed the company as SunDisk, and right around when they went public! I was just looking over my copy of the presentation where wrote down the following quote: "flash data storage will be the universal media of the future."

Still waiting! :)

I remember discussing with a friend at Intel about SanDisk's flash technology (at the conference) and considering it as a stock purchase. I was ultimately dissuaded after we concluded that their method for making the oxides was prone to reliability problems. I think we underestimated them at the time, but I'm glad I didn't buy into the dream then (looking at the chart). I'm very happy with my purchase of late, though--been following this company on and off for the many years now, and was glad to finally put some money in it.
