Hey guy ...keep current...gephart announced he wouldn't run...

Also and especially a Bush/Dole ticket would disaffect the extreme right-wing of the party enough to create disarray in the party...and possibly prompt the launching of a thir party candidate like Pat Buchanen...

Now name one political pundit who stated 50/50 at the end of December...plus show me one of your friends who is on the record .....It is easy to prognosticate after the events have occurred...

Spector....defected because he was caught violating Senate ethics when he tried to corroborate testimony regarding Sidney Blumethal's taped deposition without notifying other Senators or jurors (ie. "judges" as Harkin likes to say) of his intentions to do so ...

With Spector's defection on both charges ....that gave the other four Senators wiggle room on the obstruction charge....The perjury was so weak (from a legal point of view) that defections were not a surprise but again at the end of December most if not all pundits were predicting a vote still strictly adhereing to party lines with the possible democratic defection of Byrd and maybe one or two others.

btw....yes Hillary will win..
