Monty, the Rydex and Profunds family of funds are a high test way
of mutual fund switching. They are leveraged somehow so that a move in either direction is exacerbated, by a factor of 1.5x or whatever. They don't have restrictions on switches.

So money managers and cowboys are trading them on a very short term basis.

When they all come in late in the day, based on signals from their switching systems, they are all trying to get through the same door.

And when they do, the funds have to match the orders. So Thursday, when the market was strong, they got hit with an avalanche of buy orders for the long funds, and sells for the short funds. Presto, the market tacks on a bunch of SPX points.

Hi Monty

Chart for Tuesday is in the email.

Globex numbers for the AM.

2/16 open Globex triggers:
buy programs ~-194 (1236.36) or higher
sell programs ~-632 (1231.98) or lower

Note that Globex could show negative and still be in buy program range.
