Everyone should read Motley Fools "Shareholder Revolution" it's quite interesting and topical to our discussion.
One of the things that really sticks in my craw is the inconsistent manner in which press releases are sent out. Scott tells me we haven't gone silent (in Dec.)and its 6-7 weeks between press releases and its obvious there is a ton of it available for release. We learn about the USPS contract from the CC - that isn't right. If it's material to the company then it's material to shareholders and should be disclosed within a short time of its materiality. Here is an
excerpt from the Fools Shareholder Revolution:

In April of 1996, the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), the main international organization for investor relations professionals, published a booklet called Standards and Guidance for Disclosure. It outlines a set of "best practices" in this area. Crucially, NIRI adopted a definition of materiality that enlarges upon the one established by the Supreme Court in its interpretation of
the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Rule 10b-5 anti-fraud provision.

The NIRI booklet concludes that information is material "if its disclosure would be likely to have an impact on the price of a security or if reasonable investors would want to know the information before making an investment decision." NIRI recommends that when management is in doubt about whether information is material, the information should be made public.
