Crazy I use an on-line personal notifier called NewsAlert and I noticed it's powered by Dealtime.com so I checked it out. I'm not trying to hype either but I think it clearly demonstrates how big e-commerce is already but even more is an indicator of how far we still have to go. Check it out. dealtime.com nurk

THE lack of a 50 % return reference was to Internet stocks not overall portfolio. The less-spectacular returns will also give investors more realistic expectations than many now have, said Lawrence York, manager of the WS Internet Fund. As evidence of such inflated expectations, York recalled an e-mail he received from a potential investor asking if a 50-percent return for 1999 was ''too conservative.'' ''This just underscores that people really believe they should make 50 percent ... this is not real life,'' York said from his office in Lexington, Ky. Many Internet fund managers have adopted a more defensive strategy amid the recent market swings and have been slow to spend fresh cash. For instance, Jacob of The Internet Fund said he built his cash position to between 20 percent and 30 percent over the past two months, up from five to 10 percent earlier.
