Just reread my previous post and want to make clear what I see as the "big picture" going forward, so that the thread can correct me if I'm wrong.
1. NOK.A has a line of cell phones that can access the net, send/receive email view web pages etc. They will be commmonplace soon as the price continues to drop.
2. CSCO and MOT are working to increase the speed of wireless access to the net.
3. The rollout of ADSL is gaining speed.
4. ATT has agreed to allow AOL and other ISP's access to their cable lines.
5. Many co's have been working to make voice over IP a reality.
6. Hardware prices continue to drop.

Soon all of the above will converge to make a lot of things possible for instance; I'm in my car in South Carolina and want to talk to my friend in his car in Japan. My cell phone accesses my AOL acct and dials his email address which is also his phone number, we talk for as long as we want at no charge. Long distance charges don't exist for AOL users. Local cellular charges will still apply. If my kids want to surf the web, watch TV or play video games with my Japanese friend's kids while I'm driving we can do that too, all for a flat monthly fee. AOL is everywhere and I can access my acct. via adsl, wireless or cable with my free cell phone, notebook or PC.

When all of this tech is ready we will need a co. with tremendous resources that is known and trusted by consumers to act as the interface between the tech. and the consumer. I think this co. will be AOL.

All comments and ideas are welcome.
Regards,Lee

Lee, you are a reasonable person. I agree with what you say about Etrade but regardless of how there business is doing, there stock has surged. Etrade went on a media blitz some months ago and this has produced thousands of customers. This is the same strategy that PRGY is using. Many people are not happy with AOL. PRGY knows this and is feeding on this at AOL expense.
