Important post from the Yahoo thread:

Excuse me, unlike you I have been a Dell shareholder for years. Very rarely does the stock go down after earnings. Frankly on the last split announcement it rose over 20% on the earnings.
What these analysts have said to trash the stock and comments from Dell haters is bogus why?

Dell has a specific share of the market for PC's and we know they expanded that share this last quarter.

Intel, Seagate and other PC suppliers have reported record revenues well in excess of analysts estimates.

Competitors Compact and IBM have suprised to the upside in revenues.

The fact is there were record PC sales and DEll should also have record revenues. Just last week it was surmised they were close to or had passed IBM in sales. How can they thus have soft revenues and miss the target for earnings.

Additionally, the company would have had to preannounce a shortfall in revenues of 5 to 8 percent like these bogus guys are guessing at and certainly if they will miss earnings. No such announcement has been made.

I trust MIKE DELL more than two self serving analysts who pop up on Friday morning before a 3 day weekend and make this pronouncement and know the Company can not make any comments. I agree with others who commented that how is it these guys did not have these numbers weeks ago. The quarter ended for DEll at the end of January and they wait for two days before earnings to announce this.

Several other analysts ripped on these guys. On Nightly Business report the analyst from Warburton Dillion and Reed stated this was garbage and only the Company knows what the sales were as they are a direct seller of PC's and these other analysts are just guessing.

AS far as competition Compaq just started their website a few weeks ago and frankly DEll is much leaner the other three still compete in the low end market and not really in a position to challenge DEll. No one knows how Dell has done in other parts of the world. They always suprise on how they have done.

Tuesday will tell, but frankly the stock has plunged from $110 to $90 on the decline in expectations. The $90 price reflects the disappointment. IF this does not materialize and DEll has a great quarter there will be a short squeeze unlike any other. We will see.
